Below are pictures of the major rigging work. In addition to this I also had fitted:

  • New NASA Masthead Windvane
  • New Gomax aerial and cabling
  • New Masthead light and electrical cabling
  • New Steaming light and cabling
  • New Genoa Halyard
  • New Topping lift
  • New Kicking strap and pulley's

When starting work like this be prepared for a major cost over-run ! I gave the Liverpool rigger Steve Robets a very clear picture of what I wanted to achieve and that the rigging need to be up to a Transatlantic and with this in mind he would phone me up and say ...while we have the mast down have you considered ....

From this

The bottom 30 mm was cut off and the base re-riveted

View of the storm forestay attachment (note the plate is inside the mast so it pulls against the mast). Above it is the deflector for the Genoa halyard.

View of the new SS forestay mast head fitting which was upgraded to take the 7mm Furlex forestay (up from 5mm)
View of the new SS twin backstay attachment which was upgraded to take the 6mm backstays (up from 5mm)
View of the upgraded mast winch purchased off ebay (Lewmar 10)
View of the Furlex 200s; the thru hull forestay fitting was replaced to take the larger 7mm forestay.

Just in front of this is the new deck fitting for the storm forestay.

View from inside the cockpit which show the new thru hull forestay attachment at the bow which is both bolted thru the hull and also attached via a SS rigging rod to the stem head fitting.

Behind this is the thry hull storm forestay fitting which has a fairly solid looking backing plate.
